Location and routing

Administratively La Salle Road is located in the Prince Edward and Kowloon Tong constituencies of Kowloon City District.[2]

It starts from a dead-end right beyond Prince Edward Road in the Prince Edward constituency and junctions with Prince Edward Road. Then it runs slightly northward and meets Boundary Street. After that, the road runs northward past Beverly Villa, La Salle Primary School, La Salle College and meets Nga Tsin Wai Road and Lancashire Road. Both Nga Tsin Wai and Lancashire terminate at this junction.[1]

After passing through the junction, La Salle Road goes into Kowloon Tong constituency.[2] Going northward alongside Kowloon Tsai Park, La Salle Road meets Dumbarton Road and Durham Road, and finally terminates at Hereford Road near Lee Wai Lee Campus.[1]

Naming

La Salle Road is named after La Salle College and its patron Jean-Baptiste de La Salle. When the colonial government decided to build a street that runs through Kowloon City and Kowloon Tong, La Salle College was already in operation, so the road was naturally named after the school.[3] Named in parallel is College Road, which got its name from the second half of the phrase "La Salle College". College Road bounds La Salle College from the eastern side.
